Blood Donations Needed-Jan. 19

January is National Blood Donor Month, a time to honor the volunteer blood donors who ensure the health and safety of nearly 4.5 million American patients each year. Donating blood is the ultimate random act of kindness since you never know whose life you could save. Mark your calendar to donate at the Colfax Library location on Thursday, January 19 from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Consider making one of your resolutions to donate three times a year. It is as easy as logging onto INBCsaves.org and making your appointment right from your computer or by calling toll free 800-423-0151. Your commitment will support the much needed blood supply to help save lives across the Inland Northwest.

Need an incentive? By presenting to donate in January, you are entered to win a Fitbit Surge. If exercise or the gym is not for you, you can burn up to 600 calories just by donating blood. Donating blood is so much more than most realize. 30 percent the inventory goes to cancer patients, and about one in seven people entering the hospital end up needing blood. Those in need could be a family member, friend or relative.

So as we begin 2017, find the HERO in you to give blood and save lives. Visit the Whitman County Library online calendar at www.whitco.lib.wa.us for a complete listing of programs and events or call the Colfax Library 509-397-4366.
