Remembering through Walls & Names

WSU professor, Dr. Ray Sun comes to the Methodist Church on Thursday, May 31st at 12:15 p.m. for a unique presentation on memorials. This free program is sponsored by Whitman County Library in partnership with Colfax Rotary. Anyone wishing to order a $12 lunch for the event can contact the library at 397-4366 by May 29th.

This presentation focuses on the Vietnam Memorial and its impact on shaping subsequent memorials. Many now adopt the “wall of names” concept, including the 9/11 memorial and a major planned Holocaust memorial in Amsterdam. Dr. Sun explores the commonalities and differences between the Vietnam Memorial Wall and the later memorial sites.

Dr. Ray Sun is a Professor of History at Washington State University with a passion for the history of religion, modern German history, Holocaust and genocide studies, and military history.

The Colfax Methodist Church is located at 109 S. Mill Street. For more information visit Whitman County Library’s website at www.whitco.lib.wa.us
