Youth Programs at the Colfax Library

The Colfax Library is pleased to announce an exciting lineup of programs for children and teens this fall:
  • Newest to the lineup is Wazzu Wednesdays. Students ages 12 and up are encouraged to attend each Wednesday afterschool from 2:30-4:30 p.m. to explore technology, art science and the community with student mentors from Washington State University. Teens will also enjoy snacks, play games and receive homework assistance as needed.  Programs through September focus on learning bicycle components, maintenance, and safety.
  • For teens ages 12 and up a variety of programs like domino chain reactions, recycled art, duct tape crafting, book to movie events, and Zombiefest are scheduled.  
  • For smaller children each Thursday brings Early Learning Storytime with stories, finger plays, rhymes, and songs. Baby Time is for ages 0-2 and runs from 10:10-10:30 a.m., Toddler Time is for ages 2-3 and runs from 10:30-11 a.m., and Preschool Time is for ages 4-5 and runs from 11-11:30 a.m.
  • Each Friday, Play & Learn playgroup is from 10-11:30. Parents and caregivers bring their young children for any or all of that time period to enjoy educational free play time. Kids learn through play while adults engage with the youngsters or make valuable connections with neighbors and peers.
  • Third Thursday Club is a popular afterschool program for kids in grades 1-4. The program is every 3rd Thursday of the month from 3:30-4:30 and features educational theme featuring stories, games, crafts, snacks and more. JES kids may take bus #16 with parent permission note.
  • Children's dance classes for ages 5 and older are provided by library partner Sears Academy of Dance. The Academy offers dance, tap, and ballet. For cost and registration information contact Ana Maria Sears (509) 338-0809 or by email at searsanswers@gmail.com.
