Summer Reading for KIDS

Whitman County Library invites all children and families to participate in Summer Reading 2017, “Build a Better World.” This free, fun, and educational Summer Reading program kicks off countywide in June, rewarding children who complete the reading challenge and providing some GREAT programs!

Summer Reading Programs 

Summer Reading is packed with great programs for kids and families too!! These programs are typically on Tuesdays from 4 - 5 p.m. They include juggling extraordinaire, Henrik Bothe, Traveling Lantern Theatre group, the amazingly talented, Joshua J. Superstar,  group games, building challenges, engineering experiments and other engaging activities.

K - 12 LEGO® Contest

Create an original masterpiece using LEGOs® and incorporate the Summer Reading Theme, "Build a Better World." Submit one project no larger than 11"x 11"x 11" in size to the Colfax Library on June 13, 2017. Submitted projects will be judged on creativity, originality, and relation to theme. Prizes for all age groups!

Kid's Summer Reading Challenge

To complete the contest and receive a prize, children must read (or be read) 10 books or 10 hours while teens need to read and briefly review three books. Prizes are provided by the Friends of Whitman County Library.
