Reminder for upcoming ice age programs...

The great Missoula Floods forever changed the landscape of the Pacific Northwest. Rick Thompson, President of the Ice Age Floods Institute will travel to multiple Whitman County locations July 8-9 speaking on the topic.

On Tuesday July 8, Mr. Thompson will be at the St. John Library at noon and at the Colfax Library at 7 p.m. On the following day, Weds, July 9 he’ll appear at the Tekoa Library at noon.
Mr. Thompson’s illustrated presentation explains how multiple glacial Lake Missoula floods propelled over 500 cubic miles of water, ice, rock and mud from northwestern Montana to the Willamette Valley of Oregon.  The July 8 presentations aim to help all ages understand how this glacial activity effected the Northwest while the July 9 presentation delves more deeply into glacial erratics, the giant boulders that dot our landscape after ancient glaciers receded.
These three programs are funded by the Friends on the Whitman County Library.  For more information, contact Whitman County Library at 509-397-4366 or visit the Events Calendar online at www.whitco.lib.wa.us.
