Downloading eBooks and audiobooks from Whitman County Library’s website is now easier thanks to recent updates to OverDrive, their online vendor. The company has added One-Step Checkout, OverDrive Read, and a number of searching and navigational improvements allowing even greater access and control.

With this upgrade, OverDrive has added “responsive design” which allows mobile and desktop experience to be the same regardless of screen size and device.  The biggest change to the website is the use of OverDrive Read which allows for easy web browser-based reading.  OverDrive Read features no required Adobe ID or software to install, no device activation, the ability to read online and offline, customize the font, size, justification, spacing, and theme.

Whitman County library cardholders can borrow best-selling and classic titles free of charge on most digital devices by starting from the library’s website.  Just click on the downloadable logo and browse for titles and authors. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period so there are never late fees.

OverDrive Next Generation still supports all currently compatible eBook and audio/video devices including Kindle in the US, Android, iPad and Nook.  For more information please contact Andrea at the Colfax Library at 509-397-4366.
