WC High School Art Students Recognized-Feb. 6
Meet the High School Artists
The Rural Alliance High School Art Show returns to the Colfax Library February 1-13 during open hours. This exhibit features the creative works of 120 local high school students. Students participating in the show represent schools in Tekoa, Rosalia, Garfield/Palouse, Oakesdale, St. John/Endicott, and Colfax. The community is invited to attend the exhibit and two special programs to help celebrate the teens and their accomplishments. During the Art Show Reception on Monday, February 3 from 6-8p.m., view the artwork, meet the talented students, and enjoy refreshments. A special Meet the Artist program on Thursday, February 6 at 7p.m. will feature six students.The students will speak briefly about themselves, their artwork, inspirations and aspirations. Both of the events are free to the public and take place in the Norma McGregor room at the Colfax Library.

The Meet the Artist series presents an artist from a different discipline each month in an informal setting. Supporter of the Month ... Cathy Jones!
Cathy Jones of Malden was honored as Whitman County Library’s
Supporter of the Month during a surprise ceremony Wednesday in that branch.
Making the day even more special was a community birthday party for Cathy that
followed the ceremony.
Cathy leads the Malden
Library craft programs, planning all of the projects and supplying the materials. She also
helps out with Summer Reading programs in the Malden and Rosalia Branches and
assists wherever she is needed. Cathy was nominated by a Malden manager, Karen Wallace.
The Board of Trustees, administration and Friends of the
Whitman County Rural Library District sponsor the Library Supporter of the
Month award as a way of recognizing individuals and groups that play an
invaluable role in supporting and supplementing the library’s budget and

County Library is happy to announce that our extensive, free collection of
downloadable audiobooks is now available for check-out for 21 days. The
default checkout limit for both audiobook and eBook formats is 14 days, but can
easily be extended to 21 days at checkout. Patrons can set their
individual preferences under the settings link once they have logged into their
Overdrive account.
A
Whitman County Library card is all you need to checkout and download eBooks and
audiobooks on most digital devices anytime, anywhere through our library’s
website at www.whitco.lib.wa.us
. If your device has the capability to download apps, the free Overdrive
Media Console may be the easiest way to access our digital collection. Titles
will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and there are no
late fees. This service is free to all cardholders. For questions
or help downloading eBooks and audiobooks to your device, please contact the

The gift of blood is the gift of life. You can save the lives of three people by donating blood Friday, January 24 at the Colfax Library from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Appointments are being taken by contacting the library at 509-397-4366 or the Inland Northwest Blood Center at www.inbcsaves.org.Walk-ins will be seen on a first come, first serve basis with photo I.D. required. Donors should drink plenty of fluids and eat a meal at least two hours prior to arrival. Youth in grades 1-4 are invited to “Winter Fun” at the Colfax Library on Thursday, January 16 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come join in the seasonal stories, yummy snacks, energetic games and wild laughter with friends located in the Norma McGregor Community Room of the Whitman County Library.Every Third Thursday during the school year kids may ride bus #5 with a parent permission note, walk or ride to the Colfax Library.
