Winterfest: A Huge Success

Thanks to everyone for coming out to Winterfest and supporting the library! It was an amazing community event with over 200 attendees! Happy Holidays!

Yoga, Wine & Chocolate at the Colfax Library

Unwind from the Busy Holiday Season with "Class and a Glass"

Join us Tuesday, Dec. 19, 6-7:30 pm for yoga, wine, and chocolate!

Community members are invited to “Class and a Glass,” wine, yoga, and chocolate at the Colfax Library on Tuesday, December 19 at 6 p.m. Cost is just $15 with refreshments served, including spirits for those over 21 years of age or $5 with a punch card.

Instructor Suzy McNeilly, RYT200 certified will guide participants through Yin Yoga poses that release tight fascia, hamstrings, hips and backs while providing a much needed tonic of wine and chocolates to further relax and soothe the soul.

Bring your team, test your knowledge, and compete with friends to WIN!!!

WCL Trivia Nights are the most fun you can have while learning! 

Bring your team of up to 8 individuals or join one upon arrival. Extra points will be awarded for teams that bring their library cards! Answer questions, enjoy friendly competition, and see what you know! All donations go to Friends of the Library for local library programs and projects. Winterfest is almost here!!!

Fireworks, Parade, Santa, Art, Trees Thursday, Dec. 7, 3-5:30 pm

Santa Claus visits the Colfax Library on Thursday, Dec. 7 as part the community’s annual Winterfest Celebration. Santa will hear requests from area children from 3-5:30 p.m., just prior to joining the lighted Main Street parade at 6 p.m. followed by a fireworks grand finale from the town's hillside. The library will provide crafts for kids and optional photos can be purchased.

Besides Santa, the Festival of Trees and stunning Artwork will be on exhibit in The Center for the day and for the entire month of December. Community members are invited to vote for their favorite tree, view the art, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa from the Whitman Hospital booth, or purchase tickets for a Raffle Tree sponsored by Pioneer Title Company. All proceeds will go toward a roof and other needs in The Center.

Artists on exhibit with items for sale are: Vicki Broeckel, Ken Carper, Greg Kessler, Bob Krikac, Nancy Rothwell, Rob Smith, Henry Stinson, and Carrie Vielle

Math Games for Kids Tuesday, Dec. 5, 3:30-4:30 pm

Kids in grades 3-5 are invited to FREE FUN-TIVITIES & MATH GAMES at the Colfax Library on Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 3-4 p.m. & Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come learn with the WSU students.

PG Movie Wednesday, Dec. 6, 12:45-2:30  pm

Ready, Set, Action! You're invited to the Colfax Library to see, "Despicable Me 3."  Gru meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist.  (A PG movie rating stands for Parental Guidance, as some material may not be suitable for children. There may be mild strong language and some violence) Children 7 and under need an adult present, kids ages 8-12 need parent permission. 

Take Apart Technology! @ the TEK Center Thursday, Dec. 7, 3-6 pm

Ever wondered what's inside a computer, a phone, a coffeemaker? Well here's your chance to find out! Kids grade 3 and up are invited to drop into the TEK Center between 3-6pm to investigate the electronic "guts" of commonly used household items and ask how does it work?

Storytime Thursday Mornings, 10 -11:30 am

Early Learning Storytime is a FREE program that offers a valuable listening and pre-reading experience for children birth to age 5. Children, parents/caregivers will enjoy engaging stories and participate in imaginative activities that include songs, fingerplays, action activities, crafts, puppets, and more!

Baby Time, Ages 0-2, 10:10-10:30 am

Toddler Time, Ages 2-3, 10:30-11:00 am

Preschool Time, Ages 4 and up, 11:00-11:30 am

Play & Learn Friday Mornings, 10-11:30 am

Join WCL for family, friends, and neighbors playgroup each Friday from September through June. Parents/caregivers bring your children for free play and socialization.

December Tech Tuesday Schedule

Technology Tuesdays are tech-driven events available EVERY TUESDAY at the Colfax Library's NEW TEK Center!!!

Tuesday Dec. 5 & 19, Saturday, Dec. 2 @ 2 to 4 pm - Drop-in Tech Help Need technology help? It's Drop-in Tech Tuesday (and Saturday)! Stop by the TEK Center to get hands on help with basic computer skills, internet, email, Microsoft Imagine Academy, and more! Bring your device and questions to our tech librarian Tuesdays and Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. *Please Note Drop-in Tech Help is typically held the last Tuesday of the month as well as the first & last Saturdays of the month.

Tuesday Dec. 12, @ 6 to 7 pm Quickbooks Basics Are you currently using Quickbooks financial software for your business but still have questions? Or are you a small business owner wanting to explore financial software options! Instructor, Shirley Cornelius, will draw upon her 30 years of Quickbooks experience to provide a review and answer questions on Quickbooks during this FREE class. If you already have Quickbooks installed on a laptop or device please bring to class so we can answer your individual questions.

TEK Center currently provides free WiFi, 8 laptops, projection capabilities, tables, chairs, and access to a wide variety of library resources including experienced instructors, educational software, coding kits, Lego learning,  and more.

Tree of Lights & Remembrance Ceremony

The Hospice Tree of Lights & Remembrance Ceremony will be on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Norma McGregor Community Room at the Colfax Library. Community members are invited to attend this reflective and touching event.


The ceremony pays tribute to those we have lost through music, readings and special ornaments bearing their names. The Tree of Lights remains lit within the library throughout the holiday season for community viewing.
