"Awaiting Coverage: Healthcare in the USA" now showing at Libey Gallery

An exhibit called "Awaiting Coverage: Healthcare in the USA" by Nancy Rothwell is now showing at the Libey Gallery at Colfax Library. The works of acrylic and watercolor are featured in the gallery through the end of October.

Rothwell, who has a background in healthcare, has been well known for her social and political artistic statements related to healthcare policies in the US. While this is an unusual topic to include in fine art, she hopes to encourage curiosity about US healthcare policy and improving affordability and access. For example, some of her paintings show her deep interest in access to medications and the fact that so many US citizens go to Canada to obtain their medications at a major cost savings.

Over 200 patrons had a wonderful time at Colfax's August 1st Thursday Celebration!

Colfax Methodist Church and Rosauers provided delicious Root Beer Floats, free of charge. Nonprofit group, "Tough as Nails" was here to teach origami crane folding for a good cause, and the Colfax Arts Council hosted fishing painting to decorate the flood control fence.

During the week long closure, special projects will be performed that are difficult to complete when the library is open, including carpet cleaning and upgrading our phone system. Due dates have been extended and access to the library's downloadable audio and e-books, newspapers via NewsBank, and other resources are always available for your convenience at www.whitco.lib.wa.us

Our Little Free Libraries are always open...rain or shine! Even on holidays and closures!

Visit our little free libraries all over Whitman County to "take a book and leave a book." You can also take as many as you like or leave a few personal favorites for others to enjoy. We offer adult, teen, and children's books! At times, there are even audiobooks, CDs, or DVDs available!

1st Thursdays Return to Downtown Colfax TODAY, August 1!

Numerous family fun activities begin at 3 p.m. with street vendors, restaurant and local merchant sales, origami crane folding with Tough as Nails, FREE root beer floats sponsored by Rosauers and the Methodist Church, and fish painting party from 3-5:00 p.m. in The Center at the Colfax Library. The Colfax Arts Council invites everyone to help install the fish projects on the chain link fence surrounding Colfax’s flood control at 5:30 p.m. just north of the library.

Stop by the Colfax Library Center for a FREE FLOAT!

If a high energy, southern rock, blues and bluegrass band is what you’re looking for, sashay over to Spring Street at 6:30 p.m. for the Hankers. Bring a lawn chair to find a comfy spot near the stage or settle yourself in the beer/wine garden starting at 5:30 p.m.  Either spot offers you a great seat to enjoy this toe-tapping, free music opportunity, located on Spring Street at the 2nd stoplight in town.
