The Rural Alliance Art Show Returns to The Center at Colfax Library January 6-12

This exhibit showcases paintings, drawings, pottery, collage, and sculpture created by 90 talented local middle and high school students. Students participating from Colfax, Garfield-Palouse, Oakesdale, Rosalia, and St. John-Endicott schools.

Community Reception & Meet the Artists Monday, Jan. 8 from 5 - 6 p.m.

Please join us to help celebrate the teens and their accomplishments! Come browse this marvelous exhibit and visit with artists while enjoying refreshments.

Patty Mills, Oakesdale art teacher, is excited to have student work on display, “The art show is a valuable learning experience for the students and a unique opportunity to bring their creative efforts out of the classroom and into the community allowing students to embrace the honor of sharing selected work with the public. The students take pride in seeing their work on display in a formal setting.”

Need help with your cell phone?  Will Gillespie from Inland Cellular will be answering android and iPhone questions from noon-1. Bring your phone and your questions to the TEK Center.

Tech Tuesday! Fake News
Tuesday, Jan. 16, 6-8 pm
Is this news or fake news???  Distinguishing between fact and fiction has become increasingly challenging. Climate scientist and former journalist, Peter Haug, will led a discussion on what fake news is and "how to know what to know" at the Center.

Tech Tuesday! Tax Resources

Tuesday, Jan. 23, 12-1 pm

Be prepared for tax season! Shirley Cornelius will give an overview of where you can find filing software, state and federal tax forms, filing deadlines, and free or reduced cost help with tax preparation at the TEK Center.

Happy New Year from Whitman County Library

All 14 branches of Whitman County Library are closed Monday, January 1st for New Year's Day. Due dates for library materials have been extended in anticipation of the closure and no late fines will be charged for these days. Drop boxes will remain open at all locations for returned items. Access to the library’s catalog, downloadable audio and eBooks, and other online resources including Consumer Reports are available by visiting the library’s website at www.whitco.lib.wa.us. Did you, your child or teenager receive a new tablet or eReader for Christmas? Would you like to learn how to download FREE eBooks and audiobooks to your new device? The Whitman County Library offers help through Drop-in Tech Time on scheduled Tuesdays and Saturdays from or Book-a-Librarian ANYTIME!

Drop-in Tech Help is available the first and last Saturdays of the month and as well as some Tuesdays. In January, drop-in for individualized, hands-on assistance from 2 to 4 p.m. on January 2, 6, 27, or 30!

Through Book-a-Librarian you receive one-on-one help with your device! Appointments may be made Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To Book-a-Librarian, simply call (509) 397 - 4366 or book your appointment online the days and times you desire and how we can assist you. Library staff will follow up quickly to schedule your appointment.
