Whitman County Library recently agreed to waive 60 years worth of late fees on the book The American Twenties. An anonymous patron inquired about returning the book but worried that fines might apply. Pocket of the books shows it was borrowed from the Colfax Public Library and due to be returned on Oct 13, 1954. Policy at the time, called for a 2 cent per day late fee, which would total $638.90 due today. Today, the library does not collect late fees, only fines for lost or damaged items. (Staffer Sara Garza inspects the book.)
