The artistic talents of Colfax
resident Henry Stinson will be on exhibit in the Colfax Branch Library from March 2 through April 30. The collection of oil paintings
captures Stinson’s unique view of the world through his bright and vivid
imagery.
Stinson says, “A lot of my
paintings stem from images in my childhood geared around an accident I had. I
was electrocuted and died behind the couch—literally.” This traumatic event
combined with loss of his entire family has dramatically impacted Stinson’s
view of life and his search for meaning though art.
Describing his work,
Stinson says, “It deals with the wake-up call we all receive at some point in
life; and some of us not until death. I
want to give hope through my work. Hope that there is something so much more
than all we've been taught to grasp; money, beauty, physical gratifications
like food and luxury, status, sins.”
Stinson loves the physical
act of painting and often teaches workshops on the subject including a Meet the
Artist presentation on April 21 at the library and co-sponsored by The Colfax
Arts Council. For more information about Henry Stinson visit www.henrystinson.com or find him on Facebook.
