In 2017 the Washington State Parks and
Recreation Commission will begin a Classification and Management Planning or
CAMP process to help shape the future of Steptoe Butte and Steptoe Battlefield
State Parks in Whitman County. For
each park the principal aim is to classify lands (land use zoning plans), delineate
a long-term park boundary (property acquisition/surplus plans), and prepare a
park management plan.
The
planning process will include public workshops and provide web-based
information and public comment opportunities. Through this process State
Parks will identify management alternatives to address park related recreation,
cultural and natural resource issues. More information can be found on the project website
State
Parks will kick-off this project with a public workshop in Colfax, WA.
Time:
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Date:
Tuesday March 7, 2017
Location: Whitman County Library, 102 S Main
