The Colfax Library plans
Crazy 8s Club for kids in grades 3-5. This 8 week after school program is
designed to get kids fired up about math beginning on Wednesday, September 23
from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Registration is required by September 14 for this free, fun
math and discovery club.
We all know parents need to
read to their kids, but what about math? Crazy 8s Club is a fast-growing
nonprofit whose goal is to get kids to love math as much as dessert. According
to the Bedtime Math Foundation, nearly a third of Americans would rather clean
the bathroom than solve a math problem. We need to raise the next generation to
love numbers. Every week, youth get to build things, run and jump, make music,
make a mess…and make friendships at the same time.
Crazy 8s Club gathers on a
weekly basis for 8 weeks with mischief-making activities like Bouncy Dice
Explosion and Toilet Paper Olympics. With more than 2, 500 clubs serving over
45,000 kids, it is fast becoming America’s favorite math club for elementary
kids.
Space is limited, so if you
have a child in grades 3-5 interested in 8 weeks of wacky math fun, call Sheri
at the Colfax Library, 397-4366 to register. For additional information about
this after school program, please visit www.bedtimemath.org or www.whitco.lib.wa.us.
